Schwartz,s was founded in 1927 by Reuben Schwartz, a Jewish immigrant from Romania, and his restaurant has been in the same location ever since, on boulevard Saint-Laurent, where it is now tucked in around funky storefronts and trendy boutiques. The restaurant is a single white-tiled room containing several rows of long narrow tables.
The decor hasn,t changed much over the years, but the owners have no intention of copying the successful formulas of other Montreal establishments, preferring to keep their original character and quality meals.
Filled to capacity for lunch and dinner, don,t be surprised if you find yourself sharing a table with an old man sporting a fedora, a group of students, business people, tourists, or you never know, famous artists or politicians. |
