Grizzly Cub, Grouse Mtn Refuge for Endangered Wildlife, British Columbia, Canada 03

Grizzly Cub, Grouse Mtn Refuge for Endangered Wildlife, British Columbia, Canada 03

Description : After about 1½ to 4½ years, the surviving cubs of a litter will separate from their mother. Young female bears won’t be ready to reproduce until they are 6 to 7 years of age. Once they are ready, they will only reproduce on average every 4 years. These biological traits, in combination with the low survival rate of cubs, make grizzly bears very susceptible to population decline.
