Description : The first bloom is a field of yellow glacier lilies, which start to bloom within days of the snow melting. In fact, to help them get a head-start, glacier lilies actually create heat to melt the snow around their young leaves. The chemical reactions that they use to generate heat are the same ones bears use to keep warm during hibernation! Within one or two weeks, this first bloom is over.
