Sitka Deer, Gwaii Haanas National Park Reserve, British Columbia, Canada CM11-05

Description : The Sitka Black Tail deer are found on the Queen Charlotte Islands, on other islands of the Hecate Strait and along the coastal region from the northern tip of Vancouver Island.
It was introduced in 1880s and has since drastically increased in numbers. One of their favorite places to feed in Gwaii Haanas National Park is in the abandoned Haida village sites. In these places they can find grass which is not available in the forest.
